In October, 2023, the Rotary Club of Kincumber, Australia have donated funds for a small wells to a family in a rural of Siem Reap-Angkor, Cambodia. On behalf of the Foundation for Water & Education Cambodia (FWEC), we thanks a lot to Mr. Joseph Arena, a member of the Rotary Club of Kincumber that contributed this gifts to those families in need clean water.
The wells is installed on a property land of this family of poor number two, and they share water with other families around. This family is in category poor number two according to the government classification the poverties in the rurals as four level. The poverty lines are often used tool to characterize if people are poor or not. Base on a number of different poverty lines, the government uses a classification of four general groups of rural poors of Cambodia such as:
Level 1: Extreme Poor: [FWEC is supporting this line], Normally not farmers and do not have enough to eat, almost all income spent on food take few voluntary risks (under the food security level). Depend on income from labors or from others.
Level 2: Hustling Poor: [FWEC is supporting this line], Some have small plot of land, all have only limited room for non-food spending or invesment in innovations, take very few calculated risks (this group lives between the food security and under the lower poverty line).
Level 3: Daynamic Poor: Lack some basic needs, but have land and some money to invest in productive assets, less risk-averse (live between the lower and the upper poverty line).
Level 4: These are less risk-averse than level 2 and 3 households.
Thank you very much again for your generousity support.
