Confirmation Class of 2024 International English-Speaking Catholic Parish - Frankfurt - Samroang - Jun 2024 - Wells No. 520 - 521 - 522 - 523 - 524 - 525 - 526
In June of 2024, Emma has raised funds amongst her Confirmation Group 2024 of International English-Speaking Catholic Parish in Frankfurt and collected enough for five small water wells constructions, seven bicycles and ten sacks rice 50kg each, provided to those less fortunate families in a rural of Siem Reap-Angkor, about 45km from provincial town. This water wells construction is installed on a property land of a family and they share water with the neighbours.
This family is classified of poor level one. The poverty lines are an often used tool to characterize if people are poor or not. Base on a number of different poverty lines, the government uses a classification of four general groups of rural poor in Cambodia such as:
-
Ø Level 1 (Extreme Poor): Normally not farmers and do not have enough to eat, almost all income spent on food take few voluntary risks (under the food security level). Depend on income from labours or from others.
-
Ø Level 2 (Hustling Poor): Some have a small plot of land, all have only limited room for non-food spending or investment in innovations, take very few calculated risks (this group lives between the food security and under the lower poverty line).
-
Ø Level 3 (Dynamic Poor): Lack some basic needs, but have land and some money to invest in productive assets, less risk averse (live between the lower and the upper poverty line).
Ø Level 4: These are less risk-averse than level 2 and 3 households.
On behalf of the Foundation for Water & Education Cambodia (FWEC), thank you very much for all your support and we are appreciated your generosity and dedication for Cambodian people. All the best to you and everyone in the group.
