In June, 2013, Mr. Anthony Mcmenim from New Zealand, has been continued his generosity to support the Foundation for Water & Education, Cambodia (FWEC), by contruting the funds for more five wells for helping the poor poeple of Cambodia in a rural village of Siem Reap. Mr. Anthony had been helped the poor people in a remote village with five wells in 2012.
The construction of wells has been installed on a property of a family but they share the water with the family around. Before they have got a well they drank the water from the pit well in the depth of 2 meters deep. Although most of Cambodia has plenty of water, what is available to the majority of families is either natural surface water, or water made available in shallow, hand dug, pit well. Both of these sources are filled with mud, insects and covered over by even dirtier water during the yearly floods. They drank these sources that would make them get sick the stomach.
Having clean water from a relaible sourse not only allows families to have water for cooking and drinking but also allows for bathing and laundry, all of which reduces the causes of disease and illness. In addtion to better health and hygiene, the families will have the opportunity to plant an additional crop that not rely on seasonal flooding for irrigation. This additional crop creates a more balance diet and creates an economic opportunity by enabling the famliy to sell excess produce at the market.
Thank you so much Anthony, that continue your generous support the FWEC helping the poor people of Cambodian. On behalf of a Director/Founder and the teams of FWEC with Cambodian people we are really appreciate to your generosity and support. We pray for god blessing you always.
