Tall Poppies (Australia). Yeang Tes village. Sept 2012. Wells No.121-120
On September, 2012, the Tall Poppies group have contributed the funds through Mrs. Maria Hicks to support the Foundation for Water & Education, Cambodia (FWEC), to construct the wells for the poor people to have clean water for good health drink.
Each well has been installed on the own property of a family but they share the water with the other families around. Before they recieved the well they used to drink the water from a pit well in the depth of 2 meter deep during the dry season but the water in this deep is not clean enough and they might get sick the stomach. In contrast, in the wet season they changed their way to drink the rain water or flooding water instead because their pit well is covers by flooding.
What make us concern is their health in drinking the dirty water from a pit well either flooding. The clean water well is a big help and most advantage for them since there is not only drinking clean water from the deep ground for their good health in both seasons, but they can get advantage of water from the well to water the vegetable nearby for their everyday food and grow their economy from the crops.
On behalf of a Founder/Director with the teams of FWEC and the Cambodian people, we are really appreciate to your generous support the FWEC to change the way of life of the poor people of Cambodia with clean water. And thank you very much to Maria that has share the experience with Tall Poppies about the living of Cambodian poor people. We pray for you with the best wish!
